Darren Platt

Senior Pastor

Pastor Darren grew up in northeast Edmonton and became a Christian at the age of 18. He attended SHBC for seven years while completing his formal forestry education at NAIT and the University of Alberta. After graduation, he moved to northern Alberta to work in the forest industry for 12 years as a registered professional forester.
During his involvement at Athabasca Baptist Church he sensed God's call to become a pastor. So he resigned from his forestry profession and moved with his family back to Edmonton in the fall of 2001 to obtain his Master of Divinity from Taylor Seminary. While at Taylor, he served as the intern pastor of small group ministries at McKernan Baptist Church and answered God's call to be senior pastor at SHBC in June 2007.
Darren and his wife Juanita have been happily married for 14 years and now live in the McLeod community with their four children.

Monica Manning

Community Outreach Pastor

Monica is native of Annistion, Alabama in the southern part of the United States. She has been a Christian for almost 25 years and recieved her Bachelor's Degree in Political Science from Boston University. For several years she worked in the non-profit and human rights sectors. During those years she received her call as an Evangelist and Bible teacher and was involved in evangelism and teaching for almost ten years working heavily with non-Christians and the poor. She went on to earn her Master of Divinity from Oral Roberts University in 2008.

She has been serving at Steele Heights Baptist Church since January 6, 2009.

Mike Bartusek

Student Ministries Pastor

Mike Bartusek has been on staff at SHBC overseeing youth ministry since January 1995. Mike was born and raised on a farm just outside Killam, Alberta. After graduating from high school Mike enrolled at NABC where he received his Bachelor of Arts in Religion, he continued on to take his Masters of Divinity From Edmonton Baptist Seminary.
Following graduation from EBS in 1995 Mike married Terri and they have served our church since then. Mike and Terri have three children.

Bonnie Coram

Children's Ministry Pastor

Bonnie, her husband Chris, and their 3 children have been part of the church family since 1993. Bonnie grew up in Nova Scotia and earned a Bachelor's degree in Child Studies with a major in Program Development and Administration in 1985. At the age of 21, after moving to Toronto and searching for purpose in life, she invited Christ to take control of her life. It was there she met and married Chris.
The family moved to Edmonton in 1993. After arriving in Edmonton, she began working in children's clubs at Steele Heights Baptist. Later, she completed the New Life training in evangelism with Campus Crusade for Christ and Bible college courses in Children's Ministry.
Bonnie and her husband Chris have been married for 21 years and have lived in the McLeod community for over 15 years.

Laura Mackie

Office Administrator & Book Keeper

Laura grew up in North Vancouver, BC and was raised by her mom. Laura has been a Christian for 28 years and has served in administrative positions in BC and Alberta for churches, an evangelist, school boards and the pubic sector. Her experience has taught her many facets of administration and how to deal with the public. Laura, her husband Monte and their two children have been apart of the Steele Heights Baptist family since 2003.
