First of all we realize the value of relationships, we prioritize relationships with God, with each other and with our community. Any program that operates in SHBC Youth Ministry is focused on people and is a means to better those relationships. That being said we have a number of programs working on making our vision a reality.
MOW (Merge on Wednesday)
Evening starts on site but is either on or off site. Bringing students together to have a great time in a fun and safe environment is the primary focus of MOW. Our merge planning team puts together events ranging from games nights to missing persons hunts to ski trips. NOTE: ALL STUDENTS UNDER THE AGE OF 18 MUST BRING A FULLY COMPLETED "PARTICIPATION FORM" BEFORE THEY WILL BE ALLOWED TO ATTEND ANY OFF SITE YOUTH MINISTRY EVENTS. FORM AVAILABLE BELOW.
TOW (Teach on Wednesday)
Evening is on site. We begin the evening by having a singing worship time led by our youth band, then split into junior highs and senior highs for a teaching time led primarily from our youth leaders. We end the evening by meeting in small groups and then giving the students until the end of the night to hang out with each other, play some games and enjoy some snacks.
POW (Party on Wednesday)
Evening is on site but may move off site, where the students are in their small groups for the entire night. The focus of POW is to build community within each small group. The activity that they do for the evening, varies depending on what each small group decides for that week.
WOW (Worship on Wednesday)
Evening is on site. This is a night where the students participate in an evening worshipping our God. Various forms of worship are used
throughout the night (singing, journalling, prayer, solo time, etc.).
The evening looks different each time, but the students usually begin in a large group, and then end the night in their small groups.
SOW (Service on Wednesday)
Evening starts on site but may move off site. Small groups will pick a service opportunity to be involved in for each Wednesday this happens. Our heart behind SOW is that the students would see the importance of serving where they can.
Campus: As we look at the community surrounding SHBC we have identified our schools as places where we can help meet needs. Our campus ministry is focused on meeting needs in our local schools. We are in M.E.LaZerte High School every Wednesday morning at 7am to serve a free breakfast to the students before class starts. As well, every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, our church is open to Steele Heights Jr. High students after school until 4pm for them to come hang out, eat some snacks, play some foosball, basketball, wii and ping pong.

As a part of our ongoing effort to protect both students and our church we have developed a "Participation Form" . This form will allow students to attend all regular youth ministry events from September 1, 2011 through to August 31, 2012. All information on this form will be kept confidential, but will accompany the group on any off site ministry events. We are doing our best to ensure that all of our ministry events are safe and fun, and this is a furtherance of that effort. Please click on the link and print off this form, fill out all information on both pages and drop off at the church office or send with the student.
With the implementation of this policy we will be unable to transport or allow participation by any student which we do not have this document on file.
